Golden Ears Athletics depends on the participation and commitment of our families. As a requirement of registration, each family is required to participate in two fundraising events.
-
Rotary Duck Ticket Sales - We may on occasion ask our members to sell raffle tickets or
Rotary Duck Tickets in lue of or in conjunction with one of the other fundraisers noted above
depending on the budgeting/funding needs of the club in any given year.
Two deposit cheques in the amount of $100.00 each is collected from each member family at the time of registration with the Club. These deposit cheques are returned following the completion of each volunteer requirement. If you have any questions on any fundraising matters, please contact the Club Registrar for more details.
Track Rascals Program
This fundraising requirement does not apply to families that have athletes registered in ONLY the Track Rascals program. Deposit cheques are not required for registration into this program.

GEA would also like to take this time to thank all of you that volunteered at our recent Eagle Classic Track Meet held earlier this month. It was a tremendous success and could not have been accomplished without the help of over 100 parent and athlete volunteers. As a result of your efforts, not only did we raise over $4,000 for the club, but the meet stayed on schedule and ran smoothly and we received many compliments and emails from other clubs, participants and parents conveying their appreciation and willingness to come back again next year. As a consequence, you should know that your efforts not only support this year’s activities but will continue to provide a benefit to the club for many years to come and we thank you wholeheartedly for that!
The purpose of the fundraising activities for our club is not a trivial matter. The support of all our parents and sponsors ensures that we can deliver the highest level of coaching services to our member athletes in a safe, effective, and fiscally sound manner. Throughout our long history our mission has been and continues to be to promote healthy lifestyles, physical conditioning, good sportsmanship, leadership, responsibility, commitment, fairness and cooperation; these are all important qualities that our kids can use throughout their lives as they grow and develop into successful young men and women. As a non-profit society, we need you and all our sponsors in order to ensure that our organization will continue to grow and provide a safe and positive environment for all our children.
So, in case it has not been said enough, thank you again for all your support for this track and field season! To fully understand how our fundraising efforts will specifically benefit the club this year, here are the details.
2011 Fundraising - Use of Proceeds
1. GEA Home Base Tent
GEA athletes will soon have a impressive looking place to call home at away track meets.
GEA Athletes will soon have an impressive looking tent that they can call their Home Base for track meets away. We are expecting delivery of this 10 by 15 club tent by early June, just before the Langley Invitational scheduled for Father's Day weekend (June 17th). We will also be looking to host our members BBQ (that was cancelled earlier this month) at this meet so we hope everyone is planning to attend.
We have allocated approx $2,000 towards this purchase and expect to have the tent within a few weeks and just in time for the Father's Day weekend BBQ at the Langley Pacific Invitational track meet.
2. GEA Containers/Office
Thanks to the efforts of Andrew Lenton and a generous donation from the Rotary Club, we will be replacing one of our leaking and deteriorated storage containers and also be receiving a 40 foot insulated 16/24 office-storage container combo unit.
This unit will provide a small office space with light & power for use during track meets & for meetings. It also will provide additional dry storage and working space on those rainy practice days which we seem to have seen a lot of this year.
The Rotary has provided us with funding towards this purchase and GEA will cover the balance of approximately $6,000. We are expecting to receive this container at the track in June.
